Listen to the supercharged whine of the Camaro ZL1’s 580bhp and 556 lb-ft LSA V8 as it’s flogged around the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife:

Watch below as Wolfgang Pohl tames the thirty-seven year old 3.0-liter RSR around the Nordschleife’s 154 turns.
While a 7 minute 50 second whirl around the 14.173 mile Nordschleife may not be the fastest lap set, especially compared to the recent Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition lap and other sports and exotic cars, it’s damn fast for two wheels. And scary too. Just think, drivers are mildly protected in their cars, but when a rider spills, there’s not much runoff before both bike and body slam the guard rail.
So. Much. Respect.

The Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a record 7 minutes 14.64 seconds, besting the standard LFA by more than 8 seconds. If you’re wondering how fast that really is, consider this:
Porsche 911 GT2 RS – 7:18
2012 Corvette ZR1 – 7:19.63 (watch)
Dodge Viper ACR – 7:22.1 (watch)
The 570bhp 4.8-liter V10 may push the gussied up Toyota beyond its “standard” production competition, but still lags behind the radically nasty Gumpert Apollo Sport (7:11.54), the not-even-really-in-the-same-class, Radical SR8 LM (6:48), and the from-another-planet Pagani Zonda R (6:47.5 – watch). Regardless, it’s still impressive, but shouldn’t that be expected from an exotic with a ten year development period?
