How’d Turn 10 Get Such Realistic Tire Noise in Forza 4?

By using a Tesla Roadster.

From Turn 10 Studio’s Forza blog:

“As you can see in the image, we borrowed a Tesla and then attached microphones all over it, getting clean tire sounds—slides, burnouts, you name it. The Tesla had enough power to get the tires to do what the audio guys wanted, without a loud gas motor to intrude on the recording.”

A pretty clever way to make Forza Motorsport 4 even more realistic than ever before. The lil’ Tesla wasn’t just used for sound duties, it’s in the game too.

With the release of Forza Motorsport 4 right around the corner, I know what I’ll be adding to my living room racing cockpit.

The Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Italia Racing Wheel features a 28cm (7/10ths) diameter, 270-degrees of progressive resistance, a two position programmable Manettino dial, and functional metal shift paddles.

The kit launches in October (just in time for Forza 4) for an estimated $90 and features both XBOX 360 and PC compatibility.
