Cadillac Ciel Concept Comfortably Cruises Country Clubs.
Cadillac unveiled their four-seat convertible upon Pebble Beach showgoers this week. The Ciel, meaning “sky” in French, is a new expression of Cadillac’s historical grandeur, and a celebration of open-air motoring.

The Ciel calls upon a 425bhp twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 mated to a hybrid system to propel it down the boulevard, while the nickel-plated 22-inch wheels help do it in style.

The four-door concept’s doors are French-style, with the rear doors hinged at the rear, revealing a sweeping view of the dramatic interior. The interior was built for two couples and has been swathed in rich leather and beautiful Italian wood with chilling aluminum accents.

    Audi Urban Concept previewed.
As the Frankfurt Motor Show nears, we’re starting to learn more about the vehicles we’ll see. First on the list is this electric concept from Audi—the e-tron Urban Concept.
The Urban Concept’s compact dimensions were designed to aid in urban motoring, and include a rather unconventional approach to seating. The passenger cell is comprised of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP)—the same technology used in the Lamborghini Aventador. To keep things tidy (and more intimate than the dimensionally similar 2009 VW L1 Concept), the driver sits left-forward with the passenger right-rear.

Look for the Urban Concept’s formal reveal during next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

2005 Ford Shelby GR-1 design study comes full circle.
Initially shown in 2005 as a non-functional fiberglass model, the George Saridakis-penned GR-1 was inspired by Carroll Shelby’s Cobra Daytona Coupe, and later given a fully-functioning twin. The second variant debuted at the Detroit Auto Show and was built from a Ford GT chassis and included a full interior with cobra details, a 500bhp 6.4-liter V10, and hand-formed, highly polished aluminum body panels (below).

The first, non-functioning GR-1 design study will be auctioned by RM Auctions on August 19th at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, which coincidentally, is where it initially debuted just six years earlier. RM is looking to fetch $150-200k for this piece of concept history with all proceeds going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
