It may look like “just another 911,” but believe it or not, the 991 has received significant updates and revisions to its design. This is the 2012 Porsche 911.

What you’re looking at are the first unmasked images of the 2012 Porsche 911, model 991. There’s a dash of 918 Spyder, a glimmer of LED lighting and bulbous muscle baked into the evolutionary design while the Panamera’s panache has graced its interior.

Out back, the Carrera gets a new (smaller) 3.4L direct-injected flat-six delivering 350bhp while the Carrera S gets a 3.8L version good for 400bhp.

Both models offer ZF transmissions in either seven-speed manual gearbox or seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic flavors.

This is it for now as the 2012 911 will make its full reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall.
