It’s easy to compare Alexander Walker’s Straßenversion (street version) graffiti art to Banksy—and many have. Both employ hand-cut stencils, both utilize the starkest of color palettes, and both say a mouthful without actually saying much at all. But the similarities end there.

Swap Banksy’s satirical social political commentary for the haunting, symbolic representations of speed and you have Walker’s deliberately cool automotive work. Through controversial subjects such as Ayrton Senna’s famed McLaren MP4/4 (top) and Alan McNish’s harrowing 2011 Le Mans crash (above), Walker artistically narrates an anti-establishmentary view of motorsport—not unlike street art itself. How very appropriate.
